Frank was born on the family farm north of Essex on May 15, 1916. He passed away on Monday, January 24, 2005 at the Garden View Care Center in Shenandoah. Sederburg Date of Death: 1/24/2005 Frank Allen Sederburg, son of Frank E. and Beda Olivia (Bengtson) Sederburg and adoptive parents Bert Herbert and Ellen Elsie (Bengtson) McClintock. Frank was born on the family farm north of Essex on May 15, 1916. He passed away on Monday, January 24, 2005 at the Garden View Care Center in Shenandoah. At the age of only two weeks old, Franks mother, Beda, passed away. Bedas sister, Ellen, and her husband Bert took Frank in to help the family out. He ended up being raised by the McClintocks. Frank attended country school at Franklin Grove through the eighth grade. He attended one year of high school in Essex and then stayed home to help on the farm when Bert McClintock passed away. On December 15, 1941, Frank was united in marriage to Helen Frances Stephens in St. Joseph, Missouri. Following their marriage they made their home in rural Essex. Frank worked for a period of time on the railroad in Flagstaff, Arizona. He farmed northeast of Essex for 26 years and also worked during this time for Barney Johnson Cornshelling and Trucking, Warner Sederburg Cornshelling and Trucking, Mount Arbor Nurseries, Imperial Chemical Co., Mace and Hahn Tractor Implement. When he retired from farming in 1972, Frank went to work as a janitor for the Essex Public Schools until 1983. He then worked part-time cleaning the Essex Community Center, Library and Post Office. He didnt give up cleaning part-time at the Post Office until he was 80 years old. Frank attended the Essex Presbyterian Church and was a former member of the Eagles Club. He enjoyed throwing horse shoes, croquet, playing cards (pitch) and playing ball (baseball, volleyball and football). His favorite hobby was reaping the love the of the earth in growing vegetables in his garden (he sometimes had three different gardens going at one time). Most of all, he loved children. Preceding Frank in death were his parents and adoptive parents; wife, Helen; five brothers, Leonard, Bernard, Sherman and Warner Sederburg and Riley McClintock; three sisters, Florence Sederburg, Helen McClintock Nelson and Dayle McClintock Swanson; and one grandson, Curtiss Sederburg, Jr. Survivors include his sons, Clemie Sederburg and his wife Judy of Essex, IA and Curtiss Sederburg of Red Oak, IA; daughter, Trudy McNulty and her husband Dennis of Omaha, NE; 12 grandchildren, Mark Sederburg , Corey Sederburg and his wife Terri, all of Essex, IA, Tysen Sederburg and wife Christi of Stanton, IA, Jeff McNulty, Brian McNulty and John McNulty and his wife Kristen, all of Omaha, NE, Robin Olinger and her husband Larry of St. Joseph, MO, Tracy Watsabaugh and her husband Jim of Omaha, NE, Elke Sederburg of Council Bluffs, IA and Mick Sederburg and his wife Cherrilee of Colorado Springs, CO; 16 great grandchildren; sister-in-laws, Grace Owen of Hamburg, IA and Ella McClintock of Essex, IA; other relatives and many friends. Funeral services were held Friday, January 28, 2005 at 10:30 a.m. at the Essex Presbyterian Church in Essex, Iowa. Words of comfort were given by Rev. Rick Sleyster. Attending the memory register were Dorothy Hall, Alta Moore and Catherine Ross. Caring for flowers were Karlette Hultman, June McClintock, Colleen Samuelson and Sharon Berggren. Ushers were George Ross and Joe Bengston. Words of remembrance were given by Robin Olinger and Tracy Watsabaugh. Organist was Kris Adkins. Soloist Denae Wallin sang "Amazing Grace" and "Children Of The Heavenly Father". The congregation sang "How Great Thou Art". Honorary casket bearers were Gerald Sederburg, Gene Sederburg, Larry McClintock, Donavan Hultman, Clayton Johnson, Jack Tudor, Bill Royer, Russell Hilker and Fred Berggren. Casket bearers were Mark Sederburg, Corey Sederburg, Tysen Sederburg, Mick Sederburg, Jeff McNulty, John McNulty, Brain McNulty, Larry Olinger and Jim Watsabaugh. Interment was in the Essex Cemetery in Essex, Iowa. Remembrances and condolences may be shared with the family at www.hackettlivingstonfuneralhome.com.
