Kasal, 87, retired Chelsea farmer, died Thursday June 26, 1975 at the Carver Custodial home, Tama , where he entered in 1973. He was born on a farm near Chelsea May 1888 to Frank and Josephine Weaver Kasal. He attended Walnut Creek school. On January 21, 1913 he married Rose A. Dvorak at Vining. The couple moved to a farm three miles southwest of Chelsea in Richland township, where they made their home for 40 years. After Mrs. Kasal died in 1956, he retired from farming and moved to Clarinda for 10 years and later moving back to Tama county in October 1971 until retiring to the nursing home. He was the member of Z.C.B.J. lodge, served on the school board of the Richland N. 1 school, as a secretary and later as president; at one time he was treasurer for the Chelsea Independent Telephone company. Funeral services were held Sunday, June 29, at 2 p.m. from Hrabak's Funeral home , Chelsea . Rev . Marvin Cavanaugh , pastor of Assembly of God church, Belle Plaine, officiated Mrs. John Kaloupek was organist and soloist. Burial was in the National cemetery , Vining Pallbearers were Leonard Kasal, James Kasal, Donald Kasal, Virgil Kasal, Melvin Kasal and Leslie Kasal. Survivors include a son, Walter, Chelsea; five grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; three brothers, Emil, Tama, George, Belle Plaine, and Henry, Chelsea, two sisters, Mrs. Elizabet Ledvina and Mrs. Milo (Helen) Petra, Chelsea, also several nephews and nieces. Preceding him in death was his wife; a son, Robert in August 1966; his parents; four brothers, Edward, killed in W. W. I, William and Charles; a sister, Mrs. William (Caroline) Zeman.
