Brockelman, son of Fredrick and Mary Brockelman, was born in Weston, West Virginia, Sept. 10th, 1873, and departed this life Sept. 28th, 1944, at the age of 71 years and 18 days. He passed away at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Lawrence Rouse. He had been in ill health since last March. At the age of five years he came to Kansas with his parents. They settled in Lincoln County. There he attended school and grew to manhood. He was united in marriage to Ruth Shafer Dec. 25th, 1901, at Lincoln, Kansas, who still survives. To this union nine children were born, eight sons and one daughter. Three of the sons are now in the Navy. They are: Raymond O. Brockelman, B. M. 2-c, of Miami, Fla.; Ralph W. Brockelman, S. 1-c, New York; and Frank Brockelman, Jr., S. K. 3-c, of the South Pacific. The other children are: Floyd L. Brockelman of Council Grove, Mrs. Blanche Rouse of Council Grove, Everett O. Brockelman of Pomona, Calif., Clifford F. Brockelman of Council Grove, Clayton L. Brockelman of White City, Kans., and Marvin G. Brockelman, a high school student of this city. There are eight grandchildren: Margaret Ann and Alan Leroy Brockelman, both high school students of this city; Ronald Dean, Viola Jean and Sherry Elaine Brockelman of the Morning Star district; Roger Brockelman of White City, Kans.; and Barbara Jean and Beverly Dianna of Pomona, Calif. He is survived by three brothers: Allison Brockelman of Salina, Kans., William Brockelman of Hutchinson, and Edward Brockelman of this city. His parents, four brothers and five sisters preceded him in death. Frank was well known in Morris county, having lived here most of his life. He lived one year near Coffeyville, Kans., and worked in the oil fields there, and then moved back to Council Grove and had been farming here until the year of 1940, then moved to Council Grove and has lived here since that time. He accepted Christ twenty years ago while church was being held in the Corbin school house near Kahola Lake. The family at that time lived on a farm which is now covered by the Kahola Lake. He has a host of relatives and friends in this county.
