The funeral services will be held at the Catholic church Saturday morning at 9 o'clock with interment in the Catholic cemetery west of Burlington. Frankie Hoffmans was born in Burlington April 4, 1892 and was just six days past 21 years of age when death overtook him. He attended the Burlington schools and spent three years at St. Benedict's college at Aitchison. Since his return from school he has been working in the F. Hoffmans Mercantile company's store, and for a year or so has been secretary of the company. His untimely death comes as a severe shock to his many friends and acquaintances. He was confined to his bed only two weeks, and had only complained of not feeling well a couple of weeks before he had to give up. For a number of months he had been making regular trips to Kansas City to see a specialist for treatment for skin eruptions which somewhat worried him but it was not until about four weeks ago that the members of the family discovered that anything serious was the matter with him as he had never complained. His father at once took him to the best physician he could find in Kansas City, and it was learned then that it was kidney trouble in a very advanced stage. Other specialists were brought here to see Frankie and Dr. Berry was in constant attendance, but it was then too late and medical science would not avail. It is seldom that a young man of 21 years has as many sincere friends as had Frankie Hoffmans. He was lively and at times full of mischief, but always courteous, pleasant, honorable and kindly in his dealings. He was a stalwart young man in build and in character, and he will be greatly missed in local social circles and especially in the home circle. He was a member of St. Francis council No. 1486 Knights of Columbus and at the time of his death was council treasurer. Gufler, died this morning at Burlington of a complication of heart and kidney trouble. He had been sick for the past month and Mrs. Gufler has been in Burlington for the past few days.
