Milburn who passed out of this life Thursday morning from complications brought about by the influenza, at the home of his sister, Mrs. W.C. Cole, at Des Moines. His death has brought the bitter news of sorrow to the lips of his friends and relatives. His was a heart of gold. He was one of nature's noblemen in its truest sense - brave, generous and manly. His was a soul of honor, and his friends and friendships were sacred to him. Frank C. Milburn was the only son of Mr. and Mrs. E.M. Milburn and was born near Stratford, February 1, 1894. He died Thursday, May 1, 1919, at the age of 25 years and 3 months. He was united in marriage to Miss Inez Shaeffer at Stratford December 31, 1915. This union was blessed with two little daughters, Dorothy and Alice Lorraine. He graduated from the local public schools with the class of 1913 of which class he was president. About a year ago he secured a position in the post office at Des Moines being stamp clerk in the cashier's department of the post office. This position he occupied with honor to himself and satisfaction to his superiors. He leaves to mourn his early death a wife and two daughters, a father and mother, and sister, all of whom are broken-hearted and sit in sorrow where his footsteps shall never again echo. Besides these many, many, mourn the death of true and devoted friend. Deceased was an honest and upright man to whom everyone was attracted. He won the good will of all immediately by his pleasant smile and manner. No better tribute can be given than was given him by his associates in the post office at Des Moines in which they said: "He was as honest as the day is long. We could trust him with anything. We, as men, are better nobler men because we have known Frank this one brief year. We called him 'Our Boy'." A man who can win such a tribute from his fellow workers is indeed a man's man. His home was to him his one place on earth and he was always happiest there because he was devoted to his family. He loved all that was beautiful. He enjoyed music and loved flowers and could see the handiwork of God in everything. He had an optimistic nature and saw only the brighter side of everything. He had a smile for everyone. Truly his life was an exemplary one. His few short years on earth are ended but the memory of such as he will forever live. A tribute to the memory were the floral offerings which surpassed in profusion and beauty anything ever seen here before. Many were given by his friends and on a card appended could appropriately have been placed these words: "These flowers, so typical of the life of him we mourn, mutely speak the pathos of a parting word, and are placed upon this casket by friends who loved to the sleeper. On these petals are the tears of parting." Funeral services were held in Des Moines Friday evening and the remains shipped here and funeral services held from the M.E. church Sunday afternoon in charge of Rev. H.I. Pharo. The remains were laid to rest in Oakwood cemetery.
