Description	:	Frank Crooker, 78 years of age, of Ragan, Nebraska, passed away on Thursday, January 20, 2011 at the Christian Homes Care Community in Holdrege. He was born December 12, 1932 in Kasapaugh, Nebraska, the fifth of thirteen children of Claude and Alta (Anderson) Crooker. Read More	Frank Crooker, 78 years of age, of Ragan, Nebraska, passed away on Thursday, January 20, 2011 at the Christian Homes Care Community in Holdrege. He was born December 12, 1932 in Kasapaugh, Nebraska, the fifth of thirteen children of Claude and Alta (Anderson) Crooker. Frank then attended school through the eighth grade until he was needed to help his family make a living. Frank entered the United States Army in 1953 and was stationed at Fort Leonardwood, Missouri. In 1956, Frank was sent to Korea and later received his honorable discharge in 1957. On July 31, 1957 he was united in marriage to Myrtle Ledbetter and to this union three children were born: Virgil, Randy and Lura Mae. Later he adopted and raised his two nephews: Tim and Charlie Smith. The family made their home in the Sandhills area around Dunning, Nebraska, where Frank was employed for Max Thompson. After 13 years the family moved to Loomis, Nebraska, where Frank farmed for Lauren Johnson. Frank then moved his family to Ragan, where he worked for Mert Johnson, eventually retiring in Ragan. After retirement he continued to work part time for many area farmers. Frank thoroughly enjoyed roping and riding horses, hunting with his coyote dogs, fishing, and being with his family and friends. Frank was preceded in death by his parents; sisters: Georgia, Iris, Wilma and Wanda; brothers: Kenneth and Stanley; two brothers-in-law; two sisters-in-law; and two grandsons. Frank leaves to mourn his passing his wife, Myrtle of Ragan; five children: Virgil and his wife, Phyllis of Dunning, Randy and his wife, Vonnie of Ragan, Lura "Mae" Ellis of Holbrook, Nebraska, Charlie Smith of Shelton, Nebraska, and Tim Smith and his wife, Brenda of Ragan; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; 3 brothers; 3 sisters; and a host of relatives and friends.
