Mr. Peabody had worked as a clerk at Virgil Little's grocery in Muscotah, Kan., and later worked for Combustion Engineering at several locations, including Oak Ridge, Tenn., before being elected Atchison County treasurer for two terms. Read More	LODI, Calif. -- Frank Edward Peabody, 89, Lodi, Calif., died Friday, July 27, 2001, following a short illness. Mr. Peabody had worked as a clerk at Virgil Little's grocery in Muscotah, Kan., and later worked for Combustion Engineering at several locations, including Oak Ridge, Tenn., before being elected Atchison County treasurer for two terms. He owned Muscotah Lumber Yard Co. for years. He worked for the Kansas State Motor Vehicle Department and then for the Kansas State Board of Agriculture, where he served as an auditor/accountant. He also served on the Atchison County Community High School board. He was born Jan. 20, 1912, in Larkinburg, Kan., to George and Jennie Morgan Peabody. He graduated from Muscotah High School in 1929. He had lived in Lodi since 1998, after living in Council Grove, Kan., and Manhattan, Kan. Mr. Peabody was a life member of Masonic Lodge No. 130, Scottish Rite, Whiting, Kan.; Isis Temple Shrine, Salina, Kan.; and the Order of the Eastern Star, Whiting. He was a member of the High Twelve Club, Lodi, and past grand master of the United Commercial Travelers, Manhattan. He attended the Muscotah Congregational Church and was a member of the Disciples of Christ Christian Church, Council Grove, Kan., and later the United Congregational Christian Church, Lodi. He married Margaret Higley. She survives, of the home. Survivors also include a son, the Rev. Derril E. Peabody, Lodi; a daughter, Margaret Janie Rippe, St. George, Kan.; a brother, George Peabody, Oklahoma City, Okla.; five sisters, Viola Weaver, Atchison, Kan., Jenneive Worden, Sparks, Nev., Betty Hart, Leawood, Kan., Vernetta Moore, Effingham, Kan., and Bonnie Anderson, Muscotah; three grandchildren; and one great-grandson. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Toni Miotke, in January 2001. Masonic graveside services will be at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Muscotah Cemetery, followed by a memorial service at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Muscotah United Church.
