Although Mr. Jones suffered a stroke last spring, he apparently had recovered from the effects of it and his last illness was very short. He became ill last Tuesday, September 22, 1936, of hemorrhages caused by high blood pressure and was taken to the Sioux City hospital Friday for treatment. His condition was not considered alarming, but the end came very suddenly at 9:30 p.m. Sunday, death believed to have been caused by a blood clot. Franklin Harrison Jones was born in Jackson Co., Iowa, September 28, 1862, and came to Woodbury County as a boy with his parents, Hugh A. and Eliza M. Jones. Practically his entire life from that time was spent in the vicinity of what is now Anthon. He was married May 24, 1891, at Ticonic to Margaret J. Roark, and five children were born to them, all of whom survive their father. The survivors include his wife, Margaret; four daughters, Mrs. Henry (Mae) Fey of Correctionville, Mrs. Otto (Libbie) Herbold of Kingsley, Mrs. Harry (Bernice) Michaelson of Moville; and Mrs. Lou (Grace) Fey of Anthon; a son, Walter, of Bronson; four brothers, Tom of Clark, South Dakota; Gale of Fort Dodge, Iowa; Ed of Rushville, Nebraska; and Don of Wheatland, Iowa; two sisters, Mrs. Emma Williams of Coeur d' Alene, Idaho; and Mrs. A.E. (Mae) Thompson of Anthon; three stepsons, John, Will and Ed Roark of Anthon; twenty-seven grandchildren; seven great grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends. A stepson, Joe Roark, passed away in 1932. Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. today in the Anthon M.E. Church with Rev. Dills, Christian minister from Correctionville, officiating in the absence of Rev. F.O. Johnson, pastor of the local Methodist church, who is attending annual conference this week. Six grandsons; Ardell, Wayne and Arnold Fey, Otto Herold Jr., Raymond and Roland Roark, acted as pallbearers. Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery under direction of Hudgel's Funeral Service.
