Leona Mae Jones was born November 16, 1876, in the Lucky Valley community where she attended school and church. She was the youngest child of Hugh Alexander and Eliza Melinda Jones. February 14, 1898, she married Arthur Eugene Thompson of Anthon and they have spent their entire life in this community. Three children were born to them, Arthur Mayne of Walla Walla, Washington, Mildred Marie of Anthon, and Daisy Madge (Mrs. Martin Petersen) of Cushing. Survivors include her husband, three children, three grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and a brother, Ed Jones of Rushville, Nebraska. She was a member of the Church of Christ and of the Valley Rebekah Lodge #338.
