Sieber Sr. While in business here many years, he was a real friend to all who sought his counsel. He was a man to be thoroughly trusted through adversity or prosperity, sorrow or joy, sickness or health. All who have experienced these things can appreciate the lives of these builders of our state. Of late years Mr. Sieber had found it difficult to get around much among his friends, but he displayed a cheerful and friendly spirit, as always and was uncomplaining in his last illness. Frank J. Sieber, son of Frank and Helene Sieber, was born at Hermsdorf, Bohemia, July 21, 1862. He passed away at his home in Ohiowa, Neb., August 4, 1945, at the age of 83 years and 13 days. Mr. Sieber came to American at the age of nine, with his mother in the fall of 1871, to join his father, who had come to this country in the spring of 1870, and taken a homestead north or Ohiowa, Neb. He was married to Miss Mary Stoy April 24, 1888, and they celebrated their fifty-seventh wedding anniversary this year. To this union were born three sons and one daughter. The three sons preceded him in death, one dying in infancy. He lived on a farm until 1891 and then moved to town where he was connected with the Bank of Ohiowa until 1905 as cashier. In 1907 he organized his own bank known as The Home Bank and served as its president. He was baptized in the Catholic faith and many meetings were held by the pioneers at the family home and nearby schoolhouse. Being an early settler in this community, he was always interested in the upbuilding of the town and community and served in many capacities. He was a member of Incense Lodge No. 182 A. F. &A. M. at Ohiowa, Neb., and was a thirty-second degree Mason. He leaves to mourn his death, his wife, Mary, and his daughter, Mrs. Rose Lynn; also a brother, John and two sisters, Mrs. Anna Nun and Mrs. Caroline Matejka; two grandsons,; one granddaughter and three great-grandchildren. Two grandsons, Lt. Vincent S. Lynn on Okinawa and Lt. Leland M. Lynn in Hawaii and a granddaughter, Mrs. Betty Jo Zengerle of Annsville, Pa; a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Grace E. Sieber were unable to attend the funeral. Funeral services were held from the home Tuesday afternoon, August 7, at 2. Rev. W. B. Zimmerman, Methodist pastor, was in charge. Leonard Bornschlegl sang, his accompanist being Mrs. L. L. Goodman. James B. Barbur, florist of Geneva, was in charge of the extensive floral offerings. Assistants were Mable Arneke, Mrs. Frank Sieckmann, Sophia Saatmann, Ruth Philippi, Lindell Churchill, Jergen Folkerts, and undertaker W. A. Philippi. Burial was in the Ohiowa cemetery. The Masonic order performed the committal rites. The funeral was largely attended by friends from the community he had so faithfully served and from neighboring towns and members of the Masonic order.
