Read More	FRANKLIN — Frank John “Frankie” Jelken, 92, of Franklin died Tuesday, April 21, 2015, at Golden LivingCenter in Franklin. A celebration of life service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at First United Methodist Church in Franklin. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery near Franklin. Hutchins Funeral Home in Franklin is in charge of the arrangements. He was born on May 16, 1922, and went to his heavenly home at the age of 92 years, 11 months and 5 days. The eldest of four children, Frank was born on the family farm two miles south and one mile west of Macon to John Frank and Marie Elisa (Johnson) Jelken. He was baptized as an infant and confirmed in March 1937 at Zion Lutheran Church west of Macon. Frank attended District 67, which was three-fourths of a mile east of his home. He took seventh and eighth grade at the same time as he was needed on the farm, so his formal education ceased. Frank joined the Merchant Marine in 1944, and worked for two years as a machinist on board a tanker delivering fuel to the troops. Later, he joined the U.S. Army for a short time. Frank met Norma Jean Dallmann at the dime store in Franklin, and they were married on Oct. 24, 1948. They built their home four miles north of Franklin and lived there until 2011. They celebrated 66 years of marriage and were blessed with four children. Frank loved the farm and working with his cattle. He was always busy inventing or making something. He and his family vacationed many places in campers built with his own hands, and their vacations always included fishing. Later, he took up fixing fishing rods and reels as a hobby. Frank was preceded in death by his parents; parents-in-law, George and Eva Dallmann; brothers-in-law, Earl Kinney, Lowell Herrick, Don Lodge and Bill Ingram; and sister-in-law, Elnora Ingram. He leaves to mourn his passing his wife, Norma Jean of Franklin; daughter, Janet and husband Jim Staehr of Utica; sons, Dennis and wife Teri Jelken of Macon and Martin and wife Debra Jelken of Franklin; daughter, Holly and husband Don Schmit of Aurora; grandchildren, Bryan and wife Megan Jelken of Juniata, Jami and husband Grant Schmidt of Henderson, Kimberly and husband Jason Haussermann of Franklin, Benjamin Jelken of Kearney, Jenna and husband Tyler Vettel of Marquette and Kristine Schmit and fiancé Austin Edwards of Omaha; stepgrandchildren, Deanna and husband Mark Slawnyk of Utica and Jay Staehr of York; three great-grandsons; three great-granddaughters; three stepgreat-grandsons; three sisters, Louisa Kinney of Minden, Eleverna Herricks of Franklin and Irene of Fort Worth, Texas; and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, neighbors and friends.
