According to Marriages and Baptisms 1865-1900 Performed at Saint John the Baptist Catholic Church in Somonauk, De Kalb County, Illinois. Groom Franciscum Beshey married Joannem Claude on January 12, 1872. The extended family of Claude and Bohy all started moving to Woolstock, Iowa area between 1870 and 1880. By 1880, Frank and Jane are living in Woolstock, Iowa. They have their first three children, Rosetta, Annie, and Frank E. (known as Ed). The other children were all born in the Woolstock area. The other children were Julia, Ella, Ada, Charles, Claude, Hattie and ILO. Frank Lewis Beshey became a very successful farmer and was able to leave each of his eight children that survived to adulthood a farm. Jane and Frank also raised their grandchildren, Hazel and Kenneth Boughton after their daughter, Ada passed. Frank died on March 11, 1923 in Eagle Grove, Iowa. His obituary from the Eagle Grove Eagle reads: "DEATH CLAIMS TWO OLD SETTLERS. Frank Beshey and John Robinson Passed to Great Beyond this Week" Frank Beshey, for 42 years a resident of Wright County, passed away at his home on Wright Street, Monday, March 12. Frank L. Beshey was born June 4, 1847 and departed this life March 12, 1923 at the age of 75 years, j9 months, and 8 days. He was born in France and came to Ohio at the age of 1 year and 6 months, where he remained until the age of 12 years, when he moved with his parents to Lee County, Illinois, and later LaSalle County, Illinois. About 20 years of his life was spent in Illinois. He was united in marriage with Miss Jane Claude of LaSalle County, Illinois on January 12, 1872: to this union were born eleven children, four of whom have preceded him in death, Mrs. Ada Boughton a few years ago, leaving a husband and Hazel and Kenneth. The other three died in infancy. He leaves to mourn his loss, his wife, two sons and five daughters, respectively: Mrs. Rosetta Soop, Mrs. Annie Bernard, Ed Beshey, Mrs. Julia Culmer, Mrs. Ella Culmer, Charles Beshey, and Mrs. Hattie Morrison. Thirty grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren also survive, besides as sister in California, Mrs. Mary Retz, a brother, Alexander Beshey, Tara, Iowa and numerous other relatives and friends. Forty-two years ago, the family moved to Woolstock vicinity, where Mr. Beshey spent the greater part of his life. He was a successful and prosperous famer. Five years ago he left the farm and moved to Eagle Grove, where his was summoned by death. The remains were laid to rest in the French cemetery east of Woolstock. E.A. Anderson conducted the funeral. The Beshey family never seemed to know much about Frank's sister, Mary. However research has found her husband and her death date. Mary Beshey Retz's husband died at age 43, Formerly of Angels Camp. Died in county hospital.His memorial is Edward Louis Retz 105655414. They were living in California at the time of his death. Their children were Sherman A Retz (1875), Anna R. Retz (1886)and Edward F.Retz (1881). Mary moves back to Illinois after his death, then moves back with her son, Edward in 1930 in California. Her death is listed in the California death index as October 4, 1934.
