Everything was done to cure him, but to the end he was a great sufferer. "Frankie" – the name used by his friends – lost his father, Reuben Warren Ringler, when he was a child of five years old. When the present war broke out, "Frankie" offered himself as a telegraph operator, but was rejected as physically unfit. Although never without pain and weakness, he carried the sunshine of a pleasant smile for everyone and his friends testify that when the call came for God's higher service, he made a ready and willing response. He leaves a mother, Mrs. William Showwalter, and Harry, his brother, both of Carnforth. He passed peacefully away on Sunday evening at a quarter to six o'clock. The funeral service was conducted in Carnforth church on Tuesday afternoon at 1:30 by the Rev. William W. Maxwell. The sermon was from the words "In My Father's House Are Many Mansions." A very large congregation assembled as a token of respect. The interment was at Victor cemetery. Mr. and Mrs. Showwalter desire to express their thanks for the kindness of neighbors and the sympathy of many friends. (The Victor Record, Thursday, December 20, 1917, Vol. XII, No. 7, p. 4)
