Burial in the Victor IOOF Cemetery, Victor, Iowa. Emma Retta Ratcliff was the daugher of John Mortimer and Mary Anna Griffin Ratcliff. She attended the Marengo public schools. Excelling in music she became a teacher of the same. She was married on April 16, 1890 to Reuben Warren Ringler of Ladora, Iowa. To this union two sons were born, Frank Lester and Harry Warren. Mr Ringler passed away in El Paso, Texas where he had gone for health reasons. Both boys preceded their mother in death, passing away at the ages of 25 and 26. Just 11 months claspsing between their deaths. She was married to William H Showalter on September 20, 1899 at Carnforth. He passed away at their home on Jan 5, 1920. October 1929 she was stricken with cerebral hemorriage, which she never fully recovered. Emma was a member of the Carnforth Congregational Church and was steadfast in her belief. She was organist in this same church for many years. She was also a member of the Victor Rebekah Lodge.
