Simmons' grocery store on the west side of the park. His mother... Read More	Died. At El Paso, Texas, October 1, 1896, at 2 a.m. of consumption, R.W. Ringler, aged 28 years, 4 months and 15 days. The deceased was born on his father's farm west of town, in Marengo township, May 16, 1868, where he remained until the death of his father in 1869 when he and his mother moved to this city where he entered the Marengo high school and continued as his studies with the exception of a short period during which he was engaged as clerk in C.A. Simmons' grocery store on the west side of the park. His mother and himself then moved to State Center where he learned the art of telegraphy and in a short time he was given a position as operator on the C. & N-W. Ry at Crocker, where he remained two years. While there he was married to Miss Emma R. Ratcliff, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J.M. Ratcliff of this city, on April 16, 1890, and by this union there were two children, Frankie and Harry. He then moved to Tioga, to La Grand and later to Carnsforth, Iowa, where he remained, a faithful employee of the company until his failing health compelled him a seek a change of climate. He left for El Paso September 24 where it was hoped a change would be for the good but it was for the worse and October 1st he departed this life leaving a sorrowing wife, two children, a loving mother, three brothers besides a score of sorrowing friends and relatives to mourn his loss. The body arrived at Carnsforth Sunday morning and the funeral was held at Victor Monday at 2:30 p.m. in charge of the Victor lodge of I.O.O.F. and the funeral preached by Rev. Montgomery of that place. The burial took place in the Victor cemetery. (The Marengo Republican, Thursday, October 8, 1896, Vol. XXXV, No. 16, front page) Died in Texas. R.W. Ringler died at El Paso, Texas, Oct. 1, 1896, aged 28 years, 4 months and 15 days. He was born near this city May 16, 1868, and was reared to manhood and received his education in Marengo. On April 16, 1890, he was united in marriage with Miss Emma R. Ratcliff, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J.M. Ratcliff. Of this union two children, both of whom survive, were born. Besides the widow, three brothers share the sorrow of his untimely death. He was a trusted employee of the Chicago & Northwestern Railway, occupying the position of telegraph operator and station agent at Carnforth. Some time ago he contracted that dread disease, consumption, and last winter he made a trip to the mountains, hoping to receive benefit from the change of climate, but to be disappointed. It was while on a similar trip to Texas that his death occurred. Warren Ringler was a young man of bright promise, sterling integrity and reasonable ambition, and had his life been spared, would no doubt have risen to positions of trust and influence. He was a member of the Odd Fellows' order, and by the hands of his brethren he was laid to rest. The funeral services were held Monday, at the M.E. church in Victor, a befitting ceremony being preached by Rev. C.H. Montgomery, after which the burial occurred in the Odd Fellows' cemetery.
