Description	:	Frank Ostdiek was born near Ft. Madison, Iowa, July 24, 1870, the son of Ferdinand and Theresa Ostdiek, and departed this life August 17, 1929, aged 59 years and 24 days. With the family he removed to Nuckolls county (sic), Nebraska, in 1879; settling in St. Stephens precinct, and was thus among the very early settlers of the community. Read More	Frank Ostdiek was born near Ft. Madison, Iowa, July 24, 1870, the son of Ferdinand and Theresa Ostdiek, and departed this life August 17, 1929, aged 59 years and 24 days. With the family he removed to Nuckolls county (sic), Nebraska, in 1879; settling in St. Stephens precinct, and was thus among the very early settlers of the community. He was married on May 7, 1895, at St. Stephens to Miss Anna Brockman, and they made their home on the farm where he lived until the time of this demise. To this union nine children were born: Edith, the youngest, preceding him to the grave about fourteen years ago. The surviving children are: Mrs. Paul Schroer, Henry Ostdiek, Mrs. Theodore Schendt, Mrs. John G. Lemke, William, Joseph and Herman, all of the home community, and Miss Clara of Kansas City, Mo. Besides his wife he is also survived by his mother, Mrs. Theresa Ostdiek, by four sisters Mrs. Jos. Buescher, Mrs. John E. Buescher, Mrs. Jos. Brockman all of this vicinity, and Mrs. Clem Witte of Cambridge, and by one brother, Henry of Geneva. All were present at the obsequies. Funeral services were held at St. Stephens church in charge of Rev. A. Hahn on Tuesday morning with interment in the St. Stephens cemetery (sic). The passing of Mr. Ostdiek leaves vacant a place that will be hard to fill, not only in the family circle but in the community at large. All his life he has been interested in general affairs and was an influential and leading citizen. He served many years as member of the board of his home school district, as precinct assessor, was once a candidate for county commissioner, was a leader in his church and member of the local council of the Knights of Columbus. He was not only a successful farmer but also interested in the farmers organizations being a leader in Farmers Union activities, and was president of the local Farmers Union Elevator Company.
