Description	:	Frank Pfliger, 87, of Denver, formerly of the Hazen and Beulah area, entered Gods Garden on May 11, 2012, in Denver, CO. Services will be held at 10:00 AM CDT, Thursday, May 17, 2012, at St. Martin’s Catholic Church with Fr. Johnson Kuriappilly officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. He was the 8th of 15 children of Bernard Sr. & Florentina (Heinz) Pfliger. Frank grew up in Pleasant Valley and attended Country Elementary School. After graduating from school he helped his parents on the farm plus did some carpentry work. In January 1945 Frank was drafted into the U.S. Army and received his basic training at Fort Hood, TX. He was then assigned overseas arriving on Leyete Island, P.I. on July 4th, 1946. He was reassigned to Japan until October 1946 when he returned to the U.S. After his discharge from the Army, Frank worked on the family farm until his marriage to Frances Emineth in October 1949. Frank & Frances then farmed near Center ND for 12 years. In October 1964 they moved to Grand Forks, ND where Frank was employed as the Custodian at St. Michael’s School and Church. In May 1965 they moved to Hazen, ND where he was employed as a carpenter’s helper for Eldor Sommer until 1968. Frank was then employed at Hazen Electric for three years. In the spring of 1971 he was employed by West River Telephone as a custodian and repairman. Frank continued to work there until his retirement in March 1990. Frances died February 16, 1981. Frank said that living alone was for the birds and he needed something to help keep him busy. So he began a woodworking hobby, bowling, helped others as necessary and began pitching horseshoes. His Horseshoe Pitching skills got him invited to a few tournaments plus several trophies. His next passion became a jigsaw puzzle conqueror. Frank married Florence Schnaidt on February 15.1992. He also gained a family of four Step Children, six Step Grandchildren and eleven Great Step Grandchildren. Frank was a natural father and loved his wife and step family dearly. Frank & Florence lived in Beulah and enjoyed dancing, card playing and bowling until July, 2008 at which time they moved to Denver, CO to be closer to their family. Frank is survived by his loving wife, Florence, and four step-children and their families: Loran and Sandy Schnaidt of St. Louis, MO, Laura Schnaidt in Denver, Don and Tween Schnaidt in Denver, and Al and Dee Schnaidt in Raleigh, N.C. Six sisters; Frances Walters of New Salem, Agnes Emineth of Bismarck Barbeda Pfliger of Glen Ullin, Clementine (Sis) & Tony Frieze of New Salem, Gertrude Welk of Billings, MT., Barbara & Arvid Oestreich of Hazen; Three brothers; Adam of Glen Ullin, Bernard & Catherine of Hazen, and Ray & Jackie of Bismarck, and many loving nieces & nephews. Frank was preceded in death by his parents, his 1st wife Frances, 2 brothers Nick & Tony, and 3 sisters, Adenia Pfliger, Monica Lang, and Marion Thompson.
