7/17/1947 Tipton Tribune Bragg Family Reunion held at WINDFALL By MARIE PARRISH The 29th annual Bragg family reunion was held at the country home of Mr. and Mrs. 'D. R. 7/17/1947 Tipton Tribune Bragg Family Reunion held at WINDFALL By MARIE PARRISH The 29th annual Bragg family reunion was held at the country home of Mr. and Mrs. 'D. R. Brady, northwest of Windfall, with 91 members of the family present. A basket dinner was served at noon. During the afternoon, a program of readings and songs was presented. Mrs. D. R. Officers were elected as follows: Everett Lane, of Hoopeston, Ill., president, and Mrs. Lane, secretary-treasurer. The next reunion is planned at Hoopeston, Ill. the third Sunday in July, 1948. Mr. and Mrs. Roscoe Bragg of Sheridan were the oldest couple present, Mrs. Frank Bragg of Herbst was the oldest woman and Charles Kelly of Sheridan, 4 months, was the youngest present. The remainder of the afternoon was spent playing contests and games. Persons were present from Indianapolis, Sheridan, Noblesville, Swayzee, Kokomo, Windfall, Sharpsville, Tipton and towns in Illinois.

2/18/28 Tipton Tribune Moved to Hinshaw Farm. Thomas Bragg, son of Frank Bragg, and a grandson I of Rev. George Bragg, of the Hazzle Dell community, has removed from Sims, Ind to the William Hinshaw farm, one mile north and a half mile west of Windfall. He expects to tend this place of forty acres and will secure more lead adjacent thereto If possible.
10/23/1929 Tipton Tribune Thomas Bragg who has been residing in Windfall has removed to Herbst in Grant county. He is located on a 7-acre place,and will raise chickens -and truck for the Marion markets:
8/9/1926 Tipton Tribune The eighth annual reunion of the Bragg family had sixty members in attendance, Rev. George Bragg of Windfall, Civil War Veteran, age 83, being the oldest of the four generations present. Next year this reunion will be held at the home of Frank Bragg near Herbst, Ind. The youngest member present was Orval Forest Yohn, 4 months of age. Bunker Hill, Peru, Frankfort, Center, Kokomo, Elwood, Marion, Herbst, Sharpsville Windfall ad Tipton had many members present at this happy meeting and enjoyed a big basket dinner and program. John Bragg, Kokomo, is president of the organization; and Mrs. Zelma Good of Tipton is secretary and treasurer. The 1927 meeting will be held Sunday, August 14th.
Bragg Reunion. 8/12/1925 Tipton Tribune The sixth annual reunion of the Bragg family was held at the home of the Rev. George Bragg at HazelDell, east of Windfall, Sunday. Ninetyfive immediate relatives were present from Indianapolis, Noblesville, Bunker Hill Mexico, Elwood, Center, Sharpsville, Kokomo, Sims, Frankfort, Hobbs and Curtisville, The oldest relative present, was Rev. Geo. Bragg, age 81 years, and the youngest was James Ramey, age 6 weeks, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Ramey of Indianapolis. At noon a bountiful dinner was enjoyed and a good program was given, in the evening ten gallons of ice cream was consumed by the crowd. All departed with smiling faces and looking forward to the reunion next year. Rev. Bragg came to the Hazel Dell community from Hamilton county, sixty-five years ago Sunday and was married to Laura Rush forty-eight years ago. There was born to this union, Mrs. O L Shaw of New Mexico, Mrs. John Bragg of Center, Frank Bragg of Herbst, Mrs. Frank Fields of Hazel Dell, Fern Bragg at home and James Bragg whose residence is unknown. The reverend Bragg is one of the few surviving civil war veterans and is a highly respected member of the Windfall community.
4/19/1926 Tipton TribuneThe funeral services for James H. Bragg, who" died Sunday morning at 12:15 am., at his home near Windfall, will be held Tuesday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock at the Hazel Dell church with Rev. Polly Couch Bowman officiating. Burial will be at New Hope. Mr. Bragg was a victim'of tuberculosis and had been confined to his bed since last September. He was born fifty-two years ago southeast of Windfall and was one of a large family of children born to Rev. and Mrs. George Bragg of the Hazeldel community. He was married but there are no children. The wife is surviving and was with the deceased during the last hours of his illness. Besides the parents and wife there sre surviving one sister and one brother and a number of half-brothers and half-sisters. 'The sister is Mattie Waker of this city and the brother is Frank Bragg of Herbst, of this state. The half-sisters and half brothers are Mrs. Ollie Shaw of New Mexico, Will Bragg of Elwood, Mrs. Frank Fields of Hazel Dell, Mrs. Arbur Smith,of near -Kokomo, Mrs. Marble Snyder of Sharpsville, John Bragg of Center, Mrs. Carl Morrison of Bunker. Hill and Fern Bragg at home.
George Bragg's Father was Henderson Bragg who was born in Kentucky and settled in the Noblesville area. His mother was Sarah Laken also of Kentucky. George was the youngest of ten children. George's first wife was Jennie Russle. They had six children which included Mattie Walker and Frank Bragg. George's second wife was Laura Rush of Henry County born on March 24th, 1856. Laura and George were married April 12th 1877. Laura's mother was Mary A. Boozer Rush who died 9/22/1917 at age 95. Laura's father was David Rush who died in 1881. David and Mary married in 1842 and came to Indiana from Ohio and settled in Tipton in 1867. Laura's brothers were Anderson, John, Harrison, Warren, Clark, and Willis. Mary's father was Jacob Boozer of Germany who immigrated to the US and settled in NY and was a tailor by trade. Jacob died at age 36. The Jacob Boozer family had 13 children and 3 adopted children!
4/9/1932 Tipton Tribune Miss Anna Fern Bragg Died at Home Near Windfall The death of Miss Anna Fern Bragg, daughter of Mrs. Laura Rush Bragg and the late Reverend George Bragg took place Friday night at 11:00 o'clock at the family home in the Hazel Dell community. Death followed an illness of nearly a year due to cancerous complications and she had been confined to her bed for nine weeks. Funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Hazel Dell Friends church and be conducted by reverend Polly Couch Bowman, and burial will in the Phlox cemetery. Miss Bragg, who was nearly 33 years of age, was born on the farm one-half mile east of Hazel Dell church August 20th, 1899 where her death took place. The late Reverend George Bragg was formerly pastor at the Hazel Dell church and he and his wife (Laura Rush Bragg) were charter members of the church. Reverend Bragg was a minister in the Friends church for nearly 50 years before his death. The daughter was devoted member of the Hazel Dell church. She is survived by the mother Mrs. Laura Bragg, five sisters Mrs. Maude Fields and Mrs. Effie Shaw of Windfall; Mrs. Angie Pearl Morrison of Bunker Hill; Mrs. Ivy Snyder, near Sharpsville; Mrs. Ethel Smith of Kokomo; two brothers, William Bragg at home, John Bragg of Swayzee, one half brother, Frank Bragg of Herbat, and a half-sister Mrs. Mattie Gould of Anderson.
6/22/1934 Tipton Tribune William Bragg Succumbed to Lung Trouble of Long Standing Thursday. William Bragg, life-long resident of the Hazel Dell community, with the exception of a few years spent in Elwood, died at the home of his mother, Mrs. Laura (Rush) Bragg of that vicinity Thursday afternoon at 3:40 o'clock, death ending a Illness of five years. Lung trouble, which defied all efforts of medical science, caused death, his condition having been critical for some time and the death was not unexpected. For several months he had been bedfast. Funeral services a r e to be at the Hazel Dell F r i e n d s church Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock with Rev. Polly (Couch) Bowman in charge and burial will follow in the Phlox cemetery. William Bragg was born on a farm three miles southeast of Windfall 53 years ago, being one of eight children born to Rev. George and Laura (Rush) Bragg. The mother being a pioneer of the Hazel Dell community and the last of thirteen children of David and Mary Rush early settlers of that section. Rev. George Bragg was twice married his first wife being Miss Jennie Russell of Hamilton County. William Bragg, a son by the second marriage, was united in marriage to Miss Nora Abbott of Morgan County and the widow a n d six children survive. The children are Roy, Ralph, Doris and Dorothy, twins, Florence and Eugene, all employed in Elwood. He is also survived by the following brothers and sisters, John Bragg of Point Isabel; Mrs. Effie Shaw of Elwood; Mrs. Maude Fields and Mrs. Angie Morrison of Windfall; Mrs. Ethyl Smith of Kokomo and Mrs. Iva Snyder of Hemlock. A half-brother, Frank Bragg resides near Leisure and a half-sister, Mrs. Martha Gold in California. The deceased was a life-long member of the Hazel Dell Friends church of which his father one time served as pastor. The father a civil war veteran lost an arm i n service and was one of the well known residents of that community.

11/14/1936 Tipton Tribune Frank Bragg, 70, Died at His Home Near Herbst Friday Afternoon Born Near Windfall Frank Bragg, 70 years of age died at his home near Herbst Friday afternoon at 3:00 following an illness of over one yer from paralysis. Funeral services will be held at the Herbst Methodist church near Swayzee at 2:00 o'clock Sunday afternoon with burial in the Herbst cemetery. Frank Bragg was born near the Hazel Dell Church 70 years ago, being one of eight children born to Reverend George and Jennie (Russell) Bragg, pioneers of that community. His father, a civil war veteran who lost an arm in the service, came to this county the year it was organized and worked on the first brick courthouse in Tipton. The mother of the deceased died in 1877 and the father remarried with Laura Rush of this county who survives. Frank Bragg was united in marriage to Rhoda Stevens of this county and the widow and two daughters survive, Mrs. Mildred Yohn of Kokomo and Mrs. Minnie Gear (born Dec. 1892)of Marion. He is also survived by three sons, Lester and Kenneth of Marion and Thomas Bragg of Hemlock. The step-mother resides near Windfall. He is also survived by half-brother, John Bragg of Swayzee, and five half-sisters, Mrs. Maude Fields and Mrs. Pearl Morrison of Windfall, Mrs. Olive Shaw of Elwood, and Mrs. Ethyl Smith and Mrs. Iva Snyder of Kokomo. Frank Bragg was reared on a farm in the Hazell Dell community and most of his life was spent in this county. Several years ago he removed to Grant County and had been residing near Herbst. The body will lie in state at at the home until taken to the Methodist church in Herbst for services and friends may call at any time. William Bragg, a half-brother died in the Hazel Dell community June 2nd, 1934.
