The following were present; Edgar Fields and family and Helen Good of Michigantown; Fred Martin and family of Center; Ralph Smith and family of Kokomo; Oval Dever and family and Luther Dever of Hobbs; Verlin Reese and wife of Alexandria; Billy Gene Harting and Thelma Lyons of Elwood; Ernest Simmons, Zelma Downing, Belle Stanley and Eilleen Crousere of Tipton; Donald Fields of near Sharpsville; Robert Smith and family, Maude Fields and son Hershel and Walter Rush of near Windfall. Afternoon callers were Henry Tolle, Alice Morrison and Lois Lacy of Windfall, and Virginia and Harriet Ann Hunter of Rigdon. 3/30/54 Tipton tribune Mrs. Maude Fields Observes Birthday Members of the family of Mrs. Maude Fields attended a birthday dinner in her honor at her home, 234 South Independence Street. Those present for the event were her four sisters and a brother, Mrs. Angie Morrison and Ethel Brady, of Windfall, Mrs. Iva Farthing, of Sharpsville, Effie Shaw, of Tipton and John Bragg, of Swayzee. Also, attending were Messers and Mesdames Oval Dever and family of Tipton, Ralph J Broyles and children, of Summitville; Ed Fields and family, of Michigantown, Roy Catron and family, near Frankfort, Jack Dever, of Windfall, Don Fields and family, of Sharpsville, Wayne McCarty, of Whiteland, Jack Beck of Indianapolis, Ernest Simmons, Jake Hoover and son, Bob Sallee, and Mrs. Effie Shaw, Mrs. Edith Martin and children, Mrs. Ted Lockwood and son Stuart, Mrs. Garnet Reece and Kay, of Marion, Mrs. Robert Smith, of Switz City, Mrs. Eva Farthing and Lowell Smith, of Sharpsville, Val Fields, Huntington, and John Black. Pictures were taken. Afternoon visitors were Mr. and Mrs. Charles Fields, Mr. and Mrs. John Fields and Mrs. Katherine Deakyne and children. Frank Fields married November 17th, 1902 in Windfall, Tipton County, IN, to Ella Maude Bragg, daughter of Reverend George E. Bragg and Laura Alice Rush, who was born March 25th, 1878 in Greentown, Howard County IN. Ella Maude died March 6th, 1959 and buried in Brookside Cemetery in Windfall. Ella's first husband was Oscar Ramey. Frank died at the home of his daughter, Zelma Fields Good of Tipton of apoplexy and stroke of paralysis. After Frank passed away, Maud moved to 234 South Independence Street, Tipton, IN. Her son-in-Iaw and daughter, Bob and Augusta Smith moved to the home place. Maud spent many years collecting 60O sets of salt and pepper shakers. She started her collection at the outbreak of Wor1d War II. She once rented her spacious home and many of her former roomers served in the war. They began sending the shakers to her from their various stateside and overseas stations. She also had a large stamp collection. She was a member of the Nazarene Church of Tipton. Colleen Dever told the story of how Maud worked in the fields of dry clods and always came in with her bare feet bleeding. Maud also loved to watch wrestling matches on TV. 3/6/1959 Tipton Tribune Mrs. Maude Fields Stricken Today Mrs. Maude Bragg Fields, 81, 238 S. Independence, died at Tipton hospital at 5:20 this morning. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday from the Harper-Mitchell Funeral home with Rev. Chester Mitchell and Rev. Darrell Swisher officiating and burial will be in Brookside cemetery. Friends may call anytime at the funeral home. Mrs. Fields was born March 25, 1878, southwest of Greentown. She was married to Oscar Ramey and following his death in 1901 was married in 1902 to Frank M. Fields who preceded her in death in 1926. She was a member of the Nazarene church of Tipton, where she resided since the death of her husband. Previously, she was a Windfall resident. Survivors include daughter Edith Ryan, Hobbs, and son Walter Ramey, Tipton, children by her first marriage, and daughter Mrs. Zelma Simmons, Tipton; daughter Mrs. Augusta Smith, Swiss City; daughter Mrs. Mamie Dever, Tipton; daughter Mrs. Garnett Reece, at home; son Edgar Fields, Frankfort; son Donald Fields, Tipton and son Herschel Fields, Brazil; children of the second marriage; a brother John Bragg, Swayzee, four sisters, Mrs. Effie Shaw, Tipton, Mrs. Angle Ingram, Kokomo; Mrs. Ethel Brady, Windfall, Mrs. Iva Farthng. Sharpsville; 31 grandchildren; 61 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
