He married Clara Backhaus Feb 8, 1922, in Schleswig. they farmed in Morgan Township until 1950 when they retired and moved to Schleswig. He was a lifelong member of the United Church of Christ and a member of the Choir for more than 50 years. He served on the Morgan Towninship Cemetery Board and was Morgan township Clerk for many years. Survivors include; his wife; one son Burdell of Schleswig; one brother, Edward of Ida Grove' one sister Mrs. Della Paulsen of Correctionvilla;; three grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
