Jensen, son of Chris and Elizabeth Jensen, was born December 1, 1864 at Grand Island, Neb., and peacefully passed away Sunday, Oct. 18, at 3:30 p.m. He had reached the age of 71 years, 10 months and 18 days. Jensen, son of Chris and Elizabeth Jensen, was born December 1, 1864 at Grand Island, Neb., and peacefully passed away Sunday, Oct. 18, at 3:30 p.m. He had reached the age of 71 years, 10 months and 18 days. When he was one year old, his parents moved to Scott county, Iowa. In 1875 they moved to Crawford county. Mr. Jensen was a resident of this community for 62 years. He saw it develop from a frontier community to one of the most prosperous communities in the state. On March 28, 1889 he was united in marriage to Miss Lena Struck. Mr. and Mrs. Jensen moved to a farm in Morgan township. Seven children were born this union. Mr. Jensen as a faithful and devoted father. In 1925 Mr. and Mrs. Jensen moved to Schleswig to make their home. However, he did not seek to retire from work. He spent many a day out in the country with his children, helping them where he could. They often consulted him and were willing to take his advice. He was a man whom the entire community respected and was thought very highly of by his neighbors and intimate friends and his integrity was never questioned. He possessed the rare quality of being quiet and yet friendly. Mr. Jensen enjoyed good health until about the first of July when he complained of not feeling well. The extreme hot weather was thought to be the cause. However, he steadily grew worse and spent the last ten weeks in bed. He received the best of medical care, but it was soon discovered that he was suffering from an incurable disease of the liver. His faithful wife and a trained nurse care for him during his sickness. As a child he was baptized in the Christian faith, and later confirmed in Friedens church, of which he was a member up until the time of his death. He served for many years as a member of the board of trustees of Morgan township. He leaves to mourn his death, his wife, Mrs. Lena Jensen, one daughter, Ella, Mrs. Walter Paulsen of Correctionville, six sons, Rudolf, William and Edward of Ida Grove; Bernard, Hugo and Frank of Schleswig. There are 12 grandchildren. Three brothers, William, of Bloomfield, Neb., and Christ and Henry of Schleswig; one sister, Mrs. Bertha Rusch of Schleswig. His parents, three sisters and one brother preceded him in death. Mr. Jensen had been a member of the Pretoria No. 695 Odd Fellow Lodge for 27 years, having received his 25 year jewel, two years ago. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at 1:30 at the home and at 2:00 in Friedens church, with Rev. Rinne in charge. Burial in the Morgan township cemetery. The services at the grave were in charge of the Odd Fellow Lodge. Six members of the lodge bore the remains to their last resting place, namely: Ed Reimer, Louis Reimer, Theo. C. Lohse, Siegfried Kettlesen, Peter C. Hollander and Herbert Peters. The honorary pallbearers were members of the church board of which the deceased was a member. Henry P. Hansen, Otto A.
