He had farmed six miles north of Vermillion until last spring, when he retired from the farm and moved to Vermillion. His health had been failing for several years. Mr. Steigelmeyer was born April 5, 1878, at Garrison, Iowa, the son of German parents. When a boy he went to Larchwood, Iowa, where he lived on a farm. He was married Larchwood February 7, 1907, to Mary Thompson and came to Clay county fives years later. He is survived by his widow and one daughter, Mrs. Ruby Grace. He also leaves three brothers, Essie, of Vermillin, and Elmer and Lewis of Larchwood, Iowa.
