Mr. Vitek was born June 2, 1876, in York township, Tama county, the son of Frank and Caroline Kovarik Vitek. He was married January 16, 1900, at Holy Trinity church, east of Toledo, to Mary Hrstka. Mr. Vitek was born June 2, 1876, in York township, Tama county, the son of Frank and Caroline Kovarik Vitek. He was married January 16, 1900, at Holy Trinity church, east of Toledo, to Mary Hrstka. He had been a farmer and lived all his life on the same farm until his retirement to Chelsea in 1953. Mr. and Mrs. Vitek were the parents of five children, three of whom survive. They are: Mrs. Anna Nekola of Vining, Lester Vitek of Tama and Mrs. Vlasta Vesely of Chelsea. Caroline died in 1933 and Edward, in 1951. Mrs. Vitek died In 1920. Also surviving are 13 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Services were held at the Hrabak funeral home, Chelsea, on Tuesday, March. 22, beginning at 1:30 p.m. Rev. Paul H. Heath of Belle Plaine's Christ Methodist church was in charge. Casket bearers were: Louis Riha, Adolph Kovarik, Charles Kovarik, Frank Kajer, Ralph Cizek and Frank Kubu. Mrs. Emma Kosta was soloist and Mrs. Grace Dierks Morek was organist. Burial was in the National cemetery at Vining. Those attending, who came from a distance were: Mr. and Mrs. Willard Silk or What Cheer, Mrs. Agnes Hird of Dubuque, Mr. mid Mrs. O. J. Apgar of Oak Lawn, Illinois, Mrs. Carrie Pangerl and son of Barham, Minnesota, plus other friends and relatives from nearby communities
