Description	:	Franklin Ernest Smith was born in New York May 24, 1869, and departed this life January 27, 1932. With his parents he came to Hamilton county (sic) when but five years of age. When about twelve they moved to a farm along the Blue river (sic) a mile west of the K.N.D. opposite the Phil Link farm. They are: Myrtle May Blau of Deweese, Elmer Everett Smith of Fairmont, Bertha Jane Brennfoerder of Ruskin, Ernest Franklin Smith of Edgar, Blanch Violetta Brown of Clay Center, and Clara Marie Gerdes of Edgar. Besides these he leaves to mourn his going, his wife, one sister of Tribune, Kansas, fourteen grand children, and other relatives and friends. At the age of 23 years he was converted and joined the Christian church at Deweese. He loved his family, was a good provider, and worked beyond the strength of the average man. When cancer attacked his vital organs, he lost rapidly, and though sometimes suffering very much, preferred to bear it rather to have his suffering relieved with drugs. With a clear mind, he reviewed his life, the companionship of his sainted mother, his failures and successes, like the Psalmist who said, "I thought on my ways, and turned my feet unto thy testimonies. Funeral services were conducted by the pastor, W.B. Zimmerman at the Methodist church (sic) Friday afternoon at 2:30. Interment was made in Nelson cemetery (sic). CARD OF THANKS. We desire to extend our sincere thanks to all who so kindly gave assistance and extended sympathy in our bereavement, and for the beautiful floral tributes; also those who labored so hard and faithfully to make the roads passable for the funeral.
