He married Barbora Seveik (no relation) in Bila, Czechoslovakia, near Chrudim. She was born January 24, 1827 at Bohemia. They had two daughters and one son, Frank, Jr. The girls died at the ages of five and seven of diphtheria. Most of the children in that village from infancy to fourteen years of age died during this epidemic. At the urging of Frank's brother, Vaclav, who was already living in the United States, Frank, Sr., Barbora, and Frank, Jr. came to Belle Plaine, Iowa in 1862. Frank and Vaclav had a brother, Joe, who served in the Czechoslovakian Army. He was discharged because of illness and when his health returned he also came to this vicinity. Frank and Barbora bought land from the Amana Colony Corporation in York Township, Section 27. There they built a log cabin. For many years, they used an old trunk for a table. The Sevciks went to Belle Plaine, their nearest town, for supplies. The Sevciks were one of the many early settlers who helped build Petranek's Catholic Church, east of Vining. In 1909 they moved to Carroll Township to live with their son. The following year, on June 10, Frank Jr. passed away. His wife died March 10, 1917. They are buried at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Cemetery, rural Clutier.
