Chvilicek, one of our highly respected pioneers in the north country, died at a Havre hospital Sunday morning at 10 o'clock, July 31, of complications resulting from a weak heart and asthma suffered during the past two years. Funeral services were held here in Saint Mary's church Tuesday morning with Rev. Fr. John and Rev. Fr. Martins officiating Frank Chvilicek was born in Moravia, Czechoslovakia November 16, 1868, and was 64 years old, eight months, and 14 days of age at time of his passing. When 19 years of age, he entered the study of priesthood, which studies were interrupted two years later by a call to arms by his native land. Following his services in the army, he returned to his home and was married in 1894 to a native girl who preceded him in death in 1899. Two of the five children born in this union survive; namely, Mrs. C. Mendenhall of Minneapolis, and Mrs. Agnes Sisak, of Racine, Wisconsin. In the following year he again married to which union eight children were born, three of whom passed away at Moravia. In 1905 he and family left the old country for America and Texas, where, after a year's residence, they moved to Kansas, and following seven years in that state, came to Hingham in 1913 and established their claim on a 320-acre homestead twenty miles north of here, where up to the time of his passing he has proven himself an active church member, a kindly father and a considerate neighbor. By his second marriage he is survived by his wife, three sons and two daughters: John, Frank, William and Angie who resides here, and Nellie who is a nun, in Buffalo, New York. The heartfelt sympathies of neighbors and friends are extended to the bereaved wife and children in their hour of sadness. -- Frank was born in Vlcnov Moravia, his first wife's name was Rosalie Cingalek, who died in 1899.
