Read More	Garden County News (Oshkosh, Nebraska), Sep. 11, 1958, Page 1 Fred Burdick, son of William and Catherine Burdick, was born on October 4, 1886, at Hopkinton, Iowa. He passed away on September 4, 1958, at the Lewellen Community hosptal. His age was 71 years, eight months, and eleven days. Fred spent the first nine years of his early life in Hopkinton, Iowa, and moved to Albion, Nebraska, in Boone county in the spring of 1896 where his father passed away later that same year. In 1910 his widowed mother and family moved to a homestead south of Lewellen where they lived for two years. In 1912 Fred bought a relinquishment four miles north of Lewellen, where he was engaged in farming, and where he spent 42 years of his life. In the fall of 1954, failing health forced him to move to town where he remained until he was called to his reward early Iast Thursday morning. He was united in marriage to Fern Pierce of Wood River, Nebraska, on November 18, 1919. To this union were born two sons, Harold of Lewellen and Wayne of Torrance, California. He was converted when a young man and joined the Methodist Church where he kept his faith to the end. His devotion to his family and sacrifices and kindness will always be treasured memories. His father, mother, one sister and one brother preceded him in death. He leaves to mourn his passing, his wife, two sons, three grandchildren, Bruce, Marianne and Terri, and one sister, Stella; one nephew, and two nieces, other relatives and a host of friends. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon in the Methodist church and burial was in the Ash Hollow cemetery.
