Description	:	CARLSON, FRED—Fred Carlson was born on March 31, 1881, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Troedson of Falkenburg, Sweden. He passed away at the Fillmore County hospital in Geneva, Neb., April 29, 1965, after three days of hospitalization. He had been in ill health for several years. Read More	CARLSON, FRED—Fred Carlson was born on March 31, 1881, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Troedson of Falkenburg, Sweden. He passed away at the Fillmore County hospital in Geneva, Neb., April 29, 1965, after three days of hospitalization. He had been in ill health for several years. He was preceded in death by two sons, his father, mother, one brother and three sisters. One brother, Leonard, is still living in Sweden. Fred came to America to make his home when he was 19 years old. He worked at farming at Red Oak, Ia., for several years. Then he was employed as a mechanic with the Sidles Buick Company of Lincoln. He was married to Velma May Wythers at Geneva, Neb., May 27, 1915, and they made their home in Lincoln for three years. Two sons, James and Maurice, were born to this union. Both are deceased. In 1918 the family moved to a farm in Madison township, where Fred farmed 33 years. He dearly loved the farm and all of nature’s growing things, especially a garden and flowers. In 1951 the family moved to Geneva and lived in Velma’s girlhood home. He was a member of the Geneva Congregational church, where he attended regularly as long as health permitted. He had a deep abiding faith in his Savior and loved to read his Bible and religious books. He leaves to mourn his passing his wife Velma and Velma’s sister-in-law, Mrs. Harry Ward, her children and their families, besides cousins and many friends. Funeral services were held at Geneva at 10 a. m. Saturday, May 1. Rev. Robert J. Kasper officiated. Mr. and Mrs. Sheldon Johnson sang “In the Garden” and “Beyond the Sunset.” Patti Miller was accompanist. Pallbearers were Eugene Betka, Melvin Kuska, Richard Manning, Wilson Miller, Richard Reinsch and Carl Schneider. Interment was in the Geneva cemetery. The Nebraska Signal May 6th, 1965 page 9.
