Description	:	Maurice Alexander Carlson was born at the farm home in Madison Township, Fillmore County, Nebraska, May 18, 1925. Here he spent his entire life. He often expressed... Read More	Maurice Alexander Carlson was born at the farm home in Madison Township, Fillmore County, Nebraska, May 18, 1925. Here he spent his entire life. He attended the local district school and then received his high school education at the Geneva high school, graduating in the class of 1942. The next fall he attended Nebraska University. In the spring of 1944 he took up farming operations with his father. He dearly loved hos farm home and God’s great outdoors. The growing crops and farm animals were a great inspiration to him. He often expressed his belief in God’s goodness and he showed his faith by joining the Geneva Congregational Church in 1945. He was married to Darlene Swanstrom of Davenport, Neb., January 14, 1951. They had many happy plans for their future, which they carried out in establishing a new home. Two months after their marriage, Maurice became ill and was hospitalized. Everything possible was done to aid his recovery, but he passed to his eternal rest in Bryan Memorial Hospital at Lincoln, Neb., on July 12, 1951. Maurice suffered a deep loss when his only brother, James passed away in April 1930. During his last illness he often spoke of being reunited with him in his Heavenly Home. His wish was to regain his health and be able to in some way repay all the kindnesses shown by neighbors who aided him in so many ways. Maurice is survived by his wife, Darlene; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Carlson of Fairmont; an aunt, Mrs. Ruth Wythers of Geneva; eight cousins; his wife’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Herman Swanstrom, and family of Davenport; many friends and neighbors who mourn his untimely passing. The funeral was held at the Geneva Congregational Church at 2 p.m., Sunday, July 15th, with his pastor, Rev. William G. Bohi, officiating. Burial was in the Geneva Cemetery. He was tenderly laid to rest by his cousins, James R. Wythers of Fairmont, Fred Slepicka of Fairmont, Franklin Otte of Grafton and Loyd Solt of Lincoln; two life-long friends, Eugene Betka of Fairmont and Bernard Rischling of Geneva. Robert Hackett, Jerry Pickerell, Wallace Swanson, Dick Wagner, Sheldon Johnson, Charles Shaw, George and Guy Brown Jr. sang “In the Garden,” “Beautiful Isle,” and “Abide with Me.” Mrs. Willard Forster officiated at the organ.
