Description	:	Fred E. Hitchcock, 82, formerly of 1017 E. 13th St., died at 9:48 p.m. Monday, Dec. 4, 1995, at Girard District Hospital. He was a patient since Nov. 16, 1995. He was born Aug. 9, 1913, a Burgess MO, to Bert and Virginia Williams Hitchcock. He traveled with his work and lived in Kansas, Mississippi Tennessee and Texas. He lived four years in Pittsburg before moving April 13, 1995 to Prairie Mission Retirement Village at St. Paul, where he lived before entering the hospital. He married Lula Denny Dec. 18, 1934, at Columbus. They later divorced. He married Betty Alred in 1964. She preceded him in death in 1989. He was a pipefitter and worked for the Spencer Chemical Co. until 1943. He then worked in Mississippi and Tennessee for the Jayhawk Corp. at Orange TX from 1954 to 1978 when he retired. He was a member of the Methodist Church and a former member of the Masonic Lodge No 187 A.F.&A.M. of Pittsburg. Survivors include two daughters, Virginia Austin of 625 E. 20th St. and Judy Bartelli of Beaumont TX; two sisters, Margaret Hanshaw of Liberal MO and Mary Thursby of Fresno CA; nine grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; and his former wife, Lula Seaman of 1017 E. 13th, who provided for his care for four years before he entered Prairie Village. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Melvin and Wayne Hitchcock; and three sisters, Mabel Thomas, Nellie Hitchcock and Zelma Miller.
