Read More	FOX, FRED—Fred Fox was born to Emmor and Harriet Morrison Fox on November 6, 1890, at Geneva and passed away on November 7, 1979 at the Fillmore County hospital at the age of 89 years and one day. Fred was the only child in the family. He lived on the place of his birth eighty-four years, and then moved to his present home in Geneva. He attended school at district No. 65 (known as the Alpine school). Upon the death of his father in 1910, he took over management of the family farm and continued until his retirement to Geneva five years ago. He was married to Alma Miller of Chelsea township on October 6, 1915. They were privileged to celebrate their 64th wedding anniversary this fall. Fred was always one of the first to volunteer his help or show his concern for those of his family, friends or neighbors whenever occasion was warranted. Fred and Lama opened their home over the years to three boys who were in need of a living home. They were John Westbrook, Raymond Sobotka and Lawrence Steffgan. Fred remained interested in the lives and careers of the boys through the years. Even though they had no children of their own, they took a special interest in many, many children of the community. Fred helped to organize the Alpine telephone company. He was also one of the organizers of the Chelsea Cemetery Association and was its president at the time of his passing. He served on church boards, both at Chelsea United Brethren and later at the Geneva United Methodist. He was also a member of the District No. 65 school board for many years. He was a member of the A.F. & A.M. Geneva lodge No. 79, and was presented his sixty-year in this past fall. He was preceded in death by his parents, his half-sister, Dora McPherson and his half-brother, Lewis Fox. He is survived by his wife Alma, cousins, nieces, nephews and many friends. Funeral services were conducted from the United Methodist church in Geneva at 10:30 a.m., Friday, November 9, 1979, with Rev. Jay Funk officiating. Mrs. Norval Lomax accompanied Delwyn Myers who sang “No Night There” and “How Great Thou Art.” Pallbearers were John Brooke, Robert Nunns, Richard Nunns, Fred Votipka, Vorus Myers and John Nelson.
