Description	:	Fred H. Knoke died at his home here in Elkader Friday evening, December 30, 1932 as a result of Bright's disease and other complications. Mr. Knoke had suffered with inflammatory rheumatism for twelve years and from this he had never really recovered, though his last illness confined him to his bed only five days. Mr. Knoke had suffered with inflammatory rheumatism for twelve years and from this he had never really recovered, though his last illness confined him to his bed only five days. Fred Henry Knoke was born Jan. 17, 1887, in Husem, Germany, the son of Fred and Wilhelmina (Nuehring) Knoke, and at the time of his death had reached the age of 45 years, 11 months and 18 days. He came to this country, settling first at Postville, where he remained for two years. From there he went to Klemme, Iowa, later coming to Elkader, though he came to this country first in 1892. April 14, 1914, at Clayton Center, he was united in marriage with Miss Ella Glawe and to this union eight children were, seven of whom survive. One son preceded him in death at the age of three years. Since his residence in Elkader he operated the Elkader Bottling Works and while he was a quiet and retiring man, one who did not enter many community activities, he was well thought of by those who knew him closely. Besides the deeply bereaved widow and seven children, all at home, he is survived by one brother and two sisters, namely Arthur Knoke of Klemme, Iowa; Mrs. Charles Schmidt of Mason City, and Mrs. Fred Haupt of Glendive, Mont. Funeral services were held last Monday afternoon at one o'clock at the late home on the East Side and at 1:30 in the Evangelical church, the Rev. P. Kitterer officiating.
