Fred L. Fisher, son of Frank L. and LuRila Newsam Fisher, was born on April 13, 1885, in the North Page District, seven and one half miles southwest of Villisca, Iowa, and passed away at the Murphy Memorial hospital in Red Oak, following an illness of two weeks, on Monday, November 16, 1964, at the age of 79 years, 7 months, and 3 days. On August 1, 1906, he was united in marriage to Mabel C. Houston of Clarinda, Iowa. To this union two sons and three daughters were born. They lived in the same community of his birth where they farmed for fifty years. In 1954, they moved to their home in Villisca. In early life Mr Fisher joined the United Presbyterian church of North Page, later transferring to the Hepburn United Presbyterian church. When that congregation was disbanded he joined the Villisca Methodist church. He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Glenna Williams and his wife Mabel. He is survived by his children, Vernone E. Fisher of Shenandoah, Iowa, Ruth M. Brownlee of Loveland, Colorado, Donald H. Fisher of Villisca, Eva L. Moyer of Loveland, Colorado, and Mary R. Bowman of Malvern, Iowa; one sister Mrs Lela Helburg of Villisca; twelve grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; other relatives and friends. VILLISCA REVIEW, Villisca, Iowa, Nov 26, 1964 Fred L. Fisher, 79, a life-time resident of Page County, died Monday night at the Red Oak hospital after a two-week illness. The funeral service will be Friday at 2 pm at the Sutphen funeral home at Villisca with burial at North Page cemetery. The Rev George Snyder of the Villisca Methodist church will officiate. Mr Fisher's wife, Mable, was a newswriter for the Herald Journal until her death in 1960. The couple farmed for many years near Villisca, and had made their home at Villisca after retirement. Survivors are five children, Vernon E. of Shenandoah, Mrs H. James (Ruth) Brownlee and Mrs Eva Moyer of Loveland, Colo, Donald H. of Villisca, and Mrs Kenneth (Mary) Bowman of Malvern.
