Carrol Times Herald - Saturday , March 2nd, 1946 - Fred F. Meier succumbed to a three-month illness at his home in Roselle at 9:45 last night. He would have been 81 years old March 12. Funeral services are to be at 10 o'clock Monday morning at Holy Angels church, with the Rev. Father Bernard Montag reading the requiem mass. The body will be shown at the church after mass. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. The body is resting at the Sharp Funeral home until the time of the rites. The rosary, led by the Rev. Father Montag, will be prayed at the funeral home tonight and also Sunday evening at 8 o'clock. Mr. Meier, born March 12, 1865, in Baden Germany, was the only child of Felix and Mary Ann Meier. He came to the United States at the age of 24 years and located in New Jersey, where he was employed for a period of time before coming to Carroll county to do farm work. He was married June 29, 1903, to Mrs. Bernard Engelen at Holy Angels church, Roselle, with the Rev. Father Frye officiating. Mr. and Mrs. Meier lived on a farm one-half mile east and one-half mile north of Roselle until the spring of 1940. Mr. Meier had resided in Roselle since then. His wife died April 6, 1913. Surviving are eight children: John Engelen, Glidden; Anna Engelen, at home; Henry Engelen, Carroll; Mrs. Joe Testroet (Sophia), Halbur; Mrs. Ben Bluml (Mary), Carroll; Joe Meier, Manning; Edward Meier, Roselle, and Louis Meier, Wellington, Kan.
