SAMUELSON DIES SATURDAY, JAN. 13 Fred P. Samuelson was born on January 19, 1891 in Stratford to Peter and Carrie Samuelson and passed away on January 13, 1962 having suffered a heart attack in his home. He had attained the age of 70 years, 11 months and 24 days at the time of his death. He had spent his entire life in the Stratford community. On November 8, 1922, he was married to Minnie Larson, Harcourt. To this union two children were born, Donald J. and LeNore. Fred lived and worked in the Stratford vicinity all of his life. In his early years he worked for the railroad and managed the city light plant. He also worked as the city night watchman, and then in later years he took up masonry work. For a number of years he was a member of of the Woodmen's Lodge. He was well liked and a respected citizen of the community. While a patient recently at the University Hospital in Iowa City he had placed his trust in the Lord Jesus Christ and testified happily of his experience during those last few months. He is survived by his wife, Minnie, a son, Donald J. Samuelson of Webster City, a daughter, Mrs. Myron Waller (LeNore) of Stratford, and five grandchildren. Funeral services were held at the First Baptist Church at Stratford at 2 p.m. Tuesday, January 16 with Pastor Kirwin Goodwin conducting the service. Music was by Mr. and Mrs. Norman Erickson who sang "The Old Rugged Cross" and "It took a Miracle". Pallbearers were LaVern Johnson, Roy Anderson, Berkley Berglund, Harold Westrum, Arvid Erickson and Clifford Johnson. Interment was in Hardin Township Cemetery. The Hanson Funeral Home, Stratford was in charge of the arrangements.
