Bring Funeral services were held Tuesday, July 14, at 10 a.m. for Fred W. Bring, who died July 11, 1970, at the Pender Hospital. The Rev. Charles Lindgren of Niobrara and the Rev. Vivian Hand were the officiating clergymen. Music was furnished by Herschel Manning of Pender, Harold Peters and Lyle Doran with Muriel Peterson presiding at the organ. Interment was in the Lyons Cemetery with six of his grandsons active pallbearers; Ronald and Donald Blank, Joel and Jeffry Bring and David and Mark Lindholm. Honorary pallbearers were Charles Smith, Rex Richardson, Guy Sailors and fellow board members, Floyd Bolton and Clyde Frazey of Walthill, Ben Krause, Winnebago, H.W. Colwell and George Scheid of Pender and Ralph Grey of Macy. Fred W. Bring was born February 26, 1889 at Oakland, the son of Jonas and Ida Bring and at the time of his demise he had sustained the age of 81 years, 4 months and 13 days. On December 18, 1913, he was married to Amy Anderson, who died March 14, 1919. January 17, 1920, he married Awilda Johnson, who died May 13, 1923. On August 17, 1938, Mr. Bring was united in marriage to Hilda M. Peterson at Omaha and they have made their home in the Rosalie area since that time. Mr. Bring moved to Thurston County as a young man and was engaged in farming near Rosalie until he retired. He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Rosalie and a member of the official board serving as a trustee and a treasurer. In 1952 Mr. Bring was elected as county commissioner and was still serving in the capacity at the time of his death. He was chairman of the board for 12 years, faithfully giving of his time. He was also active in many community affairs and served on the school board and township board. Surviving besides his wife Hilda, are two daughters, Mrs. Marie Blank and Mrs. Francis Lindholm of Rosalie; two sons, Ted of Council Bluffs and Dale of Bancroft; three step-sons, Melvin and Manford Peterson of Rosalie and Harold Peterson of Omaha; two brothers, Oscar Bring of Lyons and Albert Bring of Tempe, Arizona; 19 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and many relatives and friends. Mr. Bring was preceded in death by a step-son, Hugo Peterson, who gave his life for his country while serving in World War II, two grandsons, Marvin Blank and Lance Cpl. John Bring, who lost his life in Viet-Nam, his parents, two brothers and two sisters. __________________________ THE BLESSINGS THAT REMAIN There’s a loved one who is missing From the fireside and the feast, There’s a dear face that has vanished And a gentle voice has ceased.
