They were the parents of Dorothy, Charles, and Mary. November 5, 1925 - Carroll Times - Fred W. Ambs, a former Carroll boy, died at Clarinda, Ia., Tuesday, where he was sent for treatment October 17, 1925. For years he had been living in Dubuque, but when his health began to fail, he spent some time with his brother, Frank Ambs, at Omaha, where he was under hospital treatment. Mr. Ambs was born in Chicago January 1, 1877, and was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. John B. Ambs. Most of his boyhood days were spent in Carroll, where many friends and acquaintances have pleasant memories of earlier association with him. He leaves to mourn his passing, his wife, three children, two brothers and six sisters. The brothers are John of Greenburg, Pa.; Frank of Omaha, Neb.; the sisters: Mrs. Rose Bentley, Boone; Mrs. Mayme Scherping, Mason City; Mrs. Minnie Moshier, Chadron, Neb.; Mrs. Julia Kimler, Waterloo; Mrs. Frances Lyons, Madison, Wis., and Mrs. Josephine Butcher, Carroll. Funeral services will be held this afternoon at the home of his sister, Mrs. B.W. Butcher, Rev. W.H. Parker officiating. Interment will be made in the Carroll cemetery. With the exception of his brother, John, and his sisters, Mrs. Moshier of Chadron, Neb., and Mrs. Lyons of Madison, Wis., the brothers and sisters will attend the funeral.
