Cassill, 77, of Agency, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at 10:50 a.m. December 6, 2013 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines. She was born November 23, 1936 to Fred and Norine Myers. She married Ronald "Smokey" Cassill on November 24, 1956. He preceded her in death on December 9, 1983. Freda was a lifetime member of the Ottumwa Baptist Temple. A beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, her life revolved around her family. Surviving is her best friend for the last 30 years, Kenny Guffey; 2 daughters, Terri (Tom) Mitchell and Shelia Shepard (Tom Lacey) both of Ottumwa; 6 grandchildren, Joni (Jamie) Stinson, Tommy (Jackie) Mitchell, Angie (Kenny) Hamm, Ashley Shepard, Lisa Cassill and Kevin Cassill; 9 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Velleta Dickerson of Agency and Elaine Jackson of Ames. She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 step-children, Larry and Nelrene Cassill; a sister, Mary Lou McBride and a brother, Fred Myers. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Ottumwa Baptist Temple with Pastor Randy Miller officiating. Burial will be in Shaul Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Reece Funeral Home with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
