Spears of Lead, died at the Homestake hospital at 1:30 o’clock this afternoon as the result of an attack of peritonitis. Mr. and Mrs. Spears came to Lead several months ago, and Mr. Spears has been in the employ of the Homestake Mining company. Mrs. Spears was born in 1905 in Wisconsin. She is survived, in addition to her husband, by a brother and a sister living in Lead, her mother in Marmouth, N.D., and three brothers and three sisters living in various parts of the country. Arrangements for the funeral services will not be made until word is heard from Mrs. Spears’ mother. The time and place of the services will be announced tomorrow. The Rev. A.G. Campbell, pastor of the church, will be in charge of the services. Interment will be made in the Municipal cemetery in South Lead. SPEARS ARE HELD TODAY Funeral services were held this afternoon fr the late Mrs. Wanda Spears, whose death came in the Homestake hospital after a brief illness, from the Lead Methodist church at 2 o’clock this afternoon. Mrs. Spears’ mother, Mrs. Hammer, and two of her brothers, arrived here yesterday from North Dakota to attend the services today. The rites were conducted by the Rev. A.G. Campbell, pastor of the church. Though Mrs. Spears had lived here only a few months, she had in that time made many friends, and many of those attended the services this afternoon to pay last respects. Burial was made in the Municipal cemetery in South Lead. The pall bearers were F.E. Blackmore, Ralph Poppleton, A. Simonson, H. Hixon, K. Caufield and Mike Raich.
