Description	:	Frederick Dean Kelch was born to John Peter Kelch and Ida Grace Cookse Kelch, on March 31, 1923, at Geneva, and passed away February 18, 1988, at Veteran's Administration Medical Center in Lincoln at the age of 64 years, 10 months and 18 days. He was one of four children in the family. Fritz was inducted into the Army in February of 1943, earning the Good Conduct Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Service Medal and the American Service Medal. He was discharged in November of 1945, returning to work and raise his family in the Geneva and Fairmont area. He was one of four children in the family. Fritz was inducted into the Army in February of 1943, earning the Good Conduct Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Service Medal and the American Service Medal. He was discharged in November of 1945, returning to work and raise his family in the Geneva and Fairmont area. Fritz worked in Geneva for the OK Tire Company. He left this work and became a truck driver. Enjoying the call of the road, he owned his own truck, but left the road to be with his family. Then he did construction work from building houses to grain storage bins. Once again hearing the call of the road, he started to drive trucks again for local companies until health problems forced him off the road. Fritz opened a shoe repair service in Geneva, and operated business until health forced him in to early retirement. Fritz was married to Pauline Laschanzky of Fairmont on November 25, 1942, and to them three sons were born. He loved hunting, fishing and boating. He was a member of the VFW in Geneva and the American Legion in Fairmont. Fritz was preceded in death by his father, Peter, Mother, Ida Grace and son Kenneth Wayne. He is survived by his wife, Pauline of Fairmont, sons, Larry of Scandia, Ks.,and Marvin of Grafton; brothers John D. Kelch of David City and William S. Kelch of Stone Mountain Ga.; sister, Mrs. Walter (Ralphetta) Ebbeka of Geneva; ten grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Fritz was a loving husband, father and grandfather and will be missed. Funeral services were conducted from the Farmer & Son Funeral Home, Geneva, on Monday, February 22, with the Rev. Norman Kauble officiating. Mrs. Norval Lomax accompanied Curtis Prater, who sang "How Great Thou Art" and "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere." Pallbearers were Melvin Ackerman, Leonard Cantrell, Wayne Stone, Neil Priefert, Ardeen George and Dick Knoell. Military graveside services were conducted by the Samuel-Marsh Post #7102 VFW at the Fairmont Public Cemetery.
