Wolfteich, Pioneer Farmer, Dies at Hebron Frederick Henry Wolfteich, son of Frederick and Christine Wolfteich, was born at Neurenburg, Germany, August 12, 1862. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith in Germany. He departed this life June 13, 1956, at the Blue Valley Lutheran Home in Hebron, Neb., at the age of 93 years, 10 months and 1 day. He had been tenderly cared for at the home about two years. All of his children took turns in helping care for him the last five weeks. He came to the United States at the age of 26. He spent all of his active life farming around Bruning and Ohiowa. Mr. and Mrs. Wolfteich left the farm in 1942 and moved to Ohiowa. He was joined in holy wedlock to Fredericka Anna Markwardt March 29, 1894. They had the privilege of celebrating their golden wedding anniversary March 29, 1944. He was a member of the Grace Lutheran church (sic) at Ohiowa. He was preceded in death by his wife, two sons, his parents and two brothers. He is survived by two sons and eight daughters: Mrs. Eda Schweer of Ohiowa, Mrs. Tena Lentfer of Geneva, Mrs. Lena Henkel of Gilead; Mrs. Ella Hopken of Geneva, Mrs. Elsie Eppler of Ohiowa, George Wolfteich of Ohiowa, Mrs. Kern Most of Tobias, Rudolph Wolfteich of Daykin, Mrs. Marie Christiancy of Superior and Mrs. Lavern Garrison of Tobias, seventeen grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren and one brother in Germany, also other distant relatives and friends. Funeral services for Mr. Wolfteich were held at the Philippi Funeral home and at Grace Lutheran Church near Ohiowa Friday, June 15, with Rev. Henning Pearson officiating. Singers were Mrs. Berniece Korensky, Mrs. H.B. Pearson, Ronald Rippie and Dayle Dittmer. The organist was Sharolyn Schroder. The songs were "Safe in the Arms of Jesus” and “Beyond the Sunset.” The casket bearers were grandsons, Edwin and Lowell Schweer, Laverle Henkel, Lambert Hopken, Bernard Wolfteich and Ronald Most. Four granddaughters, Lois Most, Alda Mae Wolfteich, Mrs. LaNora Headrick and Mrs. Evelyn Vinkenberg were the floral bearers. Interment was in Grace Lutheran cemetery (sic).
