Description	:	Last rites were held Tuesday September 22 at 2 p.m. from the Lowry Funeral Home for Fred J. (Fritz) Ellison, 81, who died early Saturday morning at the Sweet Grass Community Hospital. Rev John W. Pfleiderer of the First Methodist Church of Livingston officiated. Music was furnished by Mrs Wm. Cremer, Jr., organist, and singers, Mrs Margaret Busha, and Mrs A. Ron McDonnell who sang, "In The Garden," and "Beautiful Isle." Pallbearers were Roy Moore, Virgil Braughton, Graham Woolsey, Lee Smoot, George Lavold and Ralph Prather. He was born April 21, 1889, on a ranch six miles south of Big Timber to Mr and Mrs John Ellison. He received his early education in the country schools. He homesteaded on the Boulder, drove the Contact stage and was a sheep shearer. He married Ida Michels on March 1, 1916 at Livingston, Mont. He operated the Stone Barn Livery Stable in Big Timber and was night watchman for the City of Big Timber for 16 years. In 1942 he moved back up the Boulder were he owned and operated a stock ranch. He was still active in the ranching business up to the time of his last illness. Survivors include his widow; three sons, John Ellison of Billings, Archie Ellison of Big Timber, and Stuart Ellison of Havre; one daughter, Mrs Irvin (Ellen) Yost of Big Timber; a sister, Mrs Florence Davis of Petaluma, Calif., and nine grandchildren. With the passing of Fritz Ellison the community loses another native son, another irreplacable "old timer."
