He was 57 years of age. *********************** Emporia Gazette, Tuesday, 20 March 1923; p. 8, c. 4 Funeral of F. K. Ackelbein** Funeral services for Frederick K. Ackelbein, who died Friday night, were held yesterday afternoon at 3 o'clock at St. Mark's Lutheran church. Rev. J.J. Clemens, pastor of the church, conducted the services. Interment was in Maplewood cemetery. The pallbearers were: B.E. Teichgraeber, F.S. Reider, C.P. Theis, A. Nicholas, W. Rasmussen, and Andrew Beach. Mrs. Ferris Hill, Miss Katherine Ellenberger, Miss Alice Clemens, Miss Augusta Bang. Davillo Spade, and A.F. Myser sang at the services. Frederick K. Ackelbein was born May 2, 1866, in Neudorf, Province Posen, Germany. When he was nine months old he came with his parents to America, living first in Chicago. In 1870 the family joined a colony going west to Custer county, Colorado. Here Mr. Ackelbein grew into manhood. In 1890 he was married to Miss Emma T. Deitz. Three children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Ackelbein; Emma, who died in childhood; Albert, who died in 1918 while in training with the Student Army Training Corps; and Erna, who with Mrs. Ackelbein, survives. Mr. and Mrs. Ackelbein moved from Colorado to Leavenworth, Kan. in 1902, and to Emporia in 1910. Mr. Ackelbein had been engaged in farming most of his life. His health had been failing for several years. Cancer of the stomach caused is death. Mr. Ackelbein had been a member of the Lutheran church since early childhood. Besides wife and daughter, Mr. Ackelbein is survived by three brothers and four sisters. They are: Gustave Ackelbein, Cripple Creek, Colo.; August Achelbein, Loveland, Colo.; Otto Ackelbein, Hillside, Colo.; Mrs. Minnie Henges, Siver Cliff, Colo.; Mrs. John Jacobs, Elmdale, Kan.; Mrs. Ella Wyckoff, Palisade, Colo.; Mrs. Julia Buebring, Sylvan Grove, Kan.
