Armstrong, 75, of 37 Fleming Court died Thursday morning at his home surrounded by his family after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Deep River on April 27, 1934 the son of the late Stanley and Elinor (Bond) Armstrong. Armstrong, 75, of 37 Fleming Court died Thursday morning at his home surrounded by his family after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Deep River on April 27, 1934 the son of the late Stanley and Elinor (Bond) Armstrong. Fred was employed for a number of years as a mail carrier for the United States Postal service retiring in 1996. He also worked for 25 years at Willi Bowl in Willimantic. Fred served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He was an avid fisherman, loved to play cribbage and horseshoe's. He also bowled a 300 game. Fred was first married to Phyllis (Longley) Armstrong who died on September 26, 1976 and later married Margaret Marvin who survives him as his best friend and former wife of Colchester. He is also survived by two sons, Thomas Armstrong of Key West, FL and Mark Armstrong and his wife Diane of Groton. Two daughters, Laura Maguire and her husband David of Milo, Maine and Amy Joy Crim and her husband David of Columbia. Two step sons, Richard Reischerl of Franklin and David Flagg of East Hampton. Two step daughters, Sue Myshka of Oakdale and Laurie Reischerl of Colchester. His grandchildren, Jeremy, Ryan, Kelsey and Devon Armstrong and Haley and Austin Crim. One great grandchild, Paige Armstrong and along with step grandchildren. He was predeceased by one grandchild, Sheldon Armstrong and one brother George Armstrong. A graveside service will be held June 17th at 10:00 A.M. at Plains Cemetery Franklin. Calling hours at the Guillot Funeral Home, 75 South B. St., Taftville will be Tuesday from 6-8 P.M.
