Description	:	Fred S. Franklin, Sr., 75, a current resident of Chelan and former longtime resident of Wenatchee, died Wednesday, March 15, 2000, at the Central Washington Hospital of Wenatchee. He was born on April 7, 1924, at Meridian, ID, to the Rev. Watson and Hattie (Flournoy) Franklin. Fred graduated from high school in Carthage, SD, and shortly thereafter joined the military. He was born on April 7, 1924, at Meridian, ID, to the Rev. Watson and Hattie (Flournoy) Franklin. Fred graduated from high school in Carthage, SD, and shortly thereafter joined the military. He served his country during W.W.II with the U.S. Navy at Pearl Harbor. Following his return from the War, Fred came to Wenatchee where he met and married Peggy Van Slate. The two were married on Dec. 28, 1948, at Coeur d'Alene, ID. Mr. Franklin was a longtime employee of the Wenatchee Sears store. From 1971 to 1982, he and his wife owned and operated Rooney's Cafe and Motel. Following their retirement, they moved to Chelan. Fred was a member of the American Legion Post #10 of Wenatchee. He was a former member of the Elks Lodge and was a current member of the Lake Chelan Yacht Club. Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Fred S., Jr. and Lyndel Franklin of Wenatchee; his daughter and son-in-law, Annette and Rick Burgess of Bothell; his five grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; his two brothers, DeLance "Doc" Franklin and James Franklin, both of Boise, ID; his two sisters, Grace Levi of Colfax and Lois Franklin of Chelan; and his numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Peggy (1995), one son (1965), one daughter (1953), three brothers and one sister. A service of commemoration will be held for Mr. Franklin on Saturday, March 18, 2000, at 10 a.m. at the Colonial Chapel of Jones & Jones Funeral Home with Pastor Tim Wilbur officiating. If desired, memorials may be made in his name to the American Diabetes Association. Arrangements are by Jones & Jones Funeral Directors of Wenatchee. children: Sgt.
