Frieda Behrens Oltmanns, 93, of Anamosa, died Thursday, February 28, 2002 at the Jones Regional Medical Center in Anamosa following a brief illness. Frieda Bohren was born June 23, 1908 at Grindelwald, Switzerland. She was the daughter of Fred and Rosina Bohren, Bohren. She immigrated to the United States in 1911. She attended the Coggon public schools. On March 3, 1930 she married John Behrens at American Trinity Lutheran Church in Waterloo. John and Frieda farmed in Jones County. John Behrens died on April 3, 1948. On November 25, 1952 Frieda married John Oltmanns at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Anamosa. She is survived by two daughters, Jean Kvach of Cedar Rapids, Helen (Roger) Seaton of Anamosa; a step daughter, Marie (Jiggs) Capron of Anamosa; a step son, Albert (Betty) Oltmanns of Hopkinton, two brothers, Walter Bohren of Prairieburg, Leo Bohren of Coggon; one sister, Emily Griffith of Punta Gorda, Florida; seven grandchildren; eleven step-grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, John Behrens and John Oltmanns; a daughter, Elfriede Moenk; a granddaughter, Pamela Taylor; a step son, Emil Oltmanns; son-in-laws, Richard Moenk and Gary Kvach; eight brothers, Fred, Adolph, Godfrey, Albert, Arthur, William, Robert, Raymond; three sisters, Adeline, Louise, Pauline and a step daughter-in-law, Gertrude Oltmanns. Frieda loved to garden, bake, and make baby quilts. She will be greatly missed by family and friends.
