Burial will in the McClusky City Cemetery. Frieda was born on March 17, 1920 on the family farm in the Skogmo area north of McClusky. She was the daughter of Edward and Lena (Rosenau) Hausauer. She grew up on the family farm. Frieda attended rural school near Skogmo and the McClusky High School. She worked as a waitress and as a front desk clerk at the Drake Hotel in Drake, ND. Frieda married Eugene Wahl on October 15, 1939 at her parent’s home near Skogmo. They had three children, Doug, Dianne and DeEtta. Frieda helped out on the farm wherever she was needed. If a piece of equipment was leaving the farm yard, most likely, Frieda was operating it. She was soon followed out to the fields by her husband. They moved to a farm on the west side of McClusky in 1953. Frieda and Eugene, sometimes with the help of their children, operated the Roxy Theatre in McClusky for several years. Eugene died on December 8, 2001. She continued to live at home and the Sheridan Memorial Home both McClusky and since early February 2015 in the St. Aloisius Nursing Home in Harvey. Frieda was a member of the Grace Lutheran Church, McClusky and held offices in its WELCA group. She also sang in the Grace Lutheran Choir and was a member of the Sheridan County German Choir. Her hobbies included quilting, handwork, fishing and camping. Frieda is survived by one son, Douglas (Cynthia) Wahl of McClusky, two daughters, Dianne Wahl Webster of Odenton, Maryland, DeEtta (Terry) Schindler of McClusky; 8 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; 4 step great-grandchildren; brother, Edwin (Lillian) Hausauer of Moorhead, MN; numerous nieces and nephews; and special friend, Gene McDowall of Carson. Frieda was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sister, Edna Marie Wood; brothers, Arnold, Albert and Walter Hausauer.
