Description	:	Frieda Lydia (Buchert) Boehlke was born in Max, North Dakota on May 18, 1915, to Katherine (Wagner) and Jacob Buchert. Being one of the older children in a family of eleven siblings, she helped care for and raise her young brothers and sisters. Read More	Frieda Lydia (Buchert) Boehlke was born in Max, North Dakota on May 18, 1915, to Katherine (Wagner) and Jacob Buchert. Being one of the older children in a family of eleven siblings, she helped care for and raise her young brothers and sisters. She was educated in Max, later going to Wabasha, Minnesota where she met and married, Rueben Boehlke. For the first years of marriage, Frieda and Rueben lived on the Boehlke farm in Minnesota. Their first two daughters, Nelva and Beverly, were born in Minnesota. They moved with their young family to a farm near Coleharbor, North Dakota, where later their daughter, Gayle was born. In 1948, the family moved to the old Boden farm two miles east of Garrison. Frieda loved the farm, where she and Rueben worked side by side raising crops and their daughters. Their daughter, Nelva moved back to the farm in 1958, after divorcing. She brought her young son, Kim Johnson. Eventually, Frieda had 5 grandchildren. In 1974, Frieda and Rueben left the farm and moved in to Garrison where they spent many happy years. Frieda was an active member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and served on the Ladies Aid for many years. She participated in the Lamplighter's Chapter of Garrison's Senior Citizen's. She lived with Nelva in Garrison after Rueben's death in 1990. By the year 2000, Frieda was exhibiting signs of Alzheimer's Disease. Frieda and Nelva moved to Arizona to be closer to Kim's family. In 2003, Frieda entered Paradise Cove Residential Care in Yuma, Arizona to receive special treatment for her Alzheimer's. She spent the last two years of her life there where she died of natural causes. She was preceded in death by her husband, daughters, Nelva Johnson and Beverly Nelson, parents, and 9 of her brother's and sisters.
