Read More	Gail Lorene (Jones) Hill, 86 March 11, 1926 ~ January 20, 2013 Gail was born to Merle and Edna Jones and grew up on the family farm south of Allen, Nebraska. Gail went to country school before going into Allen for High School. Upon graduation, she took a job as a teacher in a one-room school where she not only taught all the subjects for grades 1-8, but also was the janitor, kept the wood stove going, shoveled a path to the door, and did any other chore that was needed to keep the school operational. When the War began, she went to work driving a fork lift in a bomb factory in Mead, Nebraska. Soon after, she was at a basketball game in Allen when she was spotted by Keith Hill, just home from the War after a stint in the Navy. Sparks flew and they were married on September 18, 1946 at the family farm. Keith and Gail set up home in a tiny house in Allen. While Keith was working at the Cash Store, Gail was the housekeeping queen of Allen - polishing and shining and starching curtains like nobody's business. They welcomed two children into this home - Janice and Kevin. In 1955, they moved up the hill to the house where Keith had grown up. Shortly after, Timothy was born and the family was complete. Gail continued to work in the home, sewing clothing for the kids, providing delicious meals and a wonderful atmosphere for her family. For a while there, Gail's parents lived across the street and Keith's mother lived next door. She was under the microscope all the time but never complained about that. Once Tim graduated from High School, she joined Keith at the Cash Store, a mainstay in the Allen community, and they operated it until they retired in 1988, turning the reins over to Kevin. Always one for exercise, she walked to work everyday, often accompanied by the family dog, Lucky. She was involved in many activities in the Allen Community ~ Brownie and 4-H leader, ELF Club, Legion Auxiliary, and many committees in the Allen Methodist Church where she was a member until her death. Keith and Gail enjoyed many adventures with family and friends ~ trips to Europe, New Zealand, Australia, Tahiti, Hawaii, the Caribbean, as well as trips with their kids and their families. They also spent 20 years wintering in Sun City West, Arizona. For the last two years, she and Keith resided at Northern Hills Independent Living in Sioux City, Iowa where they made new friends and were even crowned King and Queen of the Northern Hills Homecoming festivities. Gail was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Arlene Luhr, and brother, Merlin Jones. She is survived by her loving husband of 66 years, Keith; daughter Janice and husband, Bob Eder of Tucson, AZ; son Kevin of Allen; son Tim and wife, Karen of Elkhart, KS; grandchildren Collin Eder and wife, Jaime and Gail's first great-grandchild, Adeline Mae of Portland OR, Derek Eder and wife, Aya, of Chicago, Emily Hill of Northglenn, CO, and Adam Hill of Ft. Collins, CO. Visitation will be on Friday, Jan. 25 from 6-8 p.m. at the Allen United Methodist Church with a Prayer Service at 7 p.m. Private Graveside Services will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 26 at Eastview Cemetery in Allen. A Memorial Service will be on Saturday, Jan. 26 at 2 p.m. at the United Methodist Church in Allen.
