Green, 83, Hicksville, died on Monday June 1, 2009, at Community Memorial Hospital, Hicksville, Ohio. He was born on March 31, 1926, in Milford Township, Defiance County, Ohio, the son of Ward and Clara (Fuchs) Green. He was a 1944 graduate of Hicksville High School. He was united in marriage to Martha Beerbower in 1947. He was a World War II veteran serving in the U.S. Army in the Asiatic Pacific Theater. He was a lifelong farmer and a school bus driver for 10 years in Hicksville. He was a charter member of the Defiance County Sheriff Posse and Board of Directors at the Hicksville Grain Company, a member of The Tri-State Two-Cylinder Club (tractor restoration), and member and past finance officer of American Legion Post 223 of Hicksville. He is survived by his wife, Martha; two sons, Jeffery (Kathy) and Eric, both of Hicksville; two grandchildren, Michael (Colleen) of Wauseon, Ohio, and Lisa of Fort Wayne, Indiana; and two great-grandchildren, Mikaylah and George. He was preceded in death by a son, David; and a brother, Loren. Funeral services will be on Friday at 1 p.m. at Smith & Brown Funeral Home, Hicksville, with Minister Ken Wellman officiating. Visitation will be on Thursday from 2-5 and 6-8 p.m. and after 12 p.m. on Friday. Burial will be at Forest Home Cemetery, Hicksville, with military honors accorded by American Legion Post 223. Memorials are to Crippled Children & Adult Society Inc. or American Lung Association.
